FINANCE DIRECTOR, CITY OF HARDEEVILLE

Job Description

The City of Hardeeville, South Carolina is seeking a highly motivated and dependable professional to serve as Finance Director for one of the regions most dynamic growth areas.  The City of Hardeeville has an existing operating budget of nearly $7 million.

 

This is a department head level position responsible for the day to day operations of the City Finance Department and direct supervision of all department staff members.  Successful candidates should possess a balance of educational and professional experience in governmental accounting and demonstrate proficient abilities in general accounting, financial analysis, state and federal grant administration, forecasting and budget preparation.  This position reports directly to the City Manager.

 

Candidates should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, public finance, public administration or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.  A Master’s degree is preferred.  Experience should include a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible financial administration with four (4) years in a supervisory capacity.  Governmental accounting experience required.  Familiarity with GAAP, GASB and fund accounting is necessary.  A detailed job description is available online at the City’s website www.cityofhardeeville.com.

Certified Firefighter

Preferred qualifications:

  • Driver/Operator Certified

PART-TIME ASSISTANT MUNICIPAL JUDGE/ PART-TIME CLERK OF COURT

 

The City of Hardeeville is actively seeking a candidate for a full time position that will function as a part-time Assistant Municipal Judge/part-time Clerk of Court.

 

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Must hold Municipal Traffic/Criminal Court each Thursday
  • Must hold Bond Hearings for the City of Hardeeville every other weekend and designated holidays for the City of Hardeeville and Town of Ridgeland
  • Assist with jury trials
  • Conduct Preliminary Hearings for General Sessions cases when requested
  • Prepare Arrest/Search Warrants for the Hardeeville Police Department
  • Attend and participate in assigned meetings scheduled by the Jasper County Chief Magistrate
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule including weekends
  • Handles incoming phone calls for Municipal Court
  • Receipts and processes payments made to the Municipal Court using the Court Management System
  • Processes refunds of court fines or bond money as needed
  • Inputs Municipal Court tickets and dispositions using the Court Management System
  • Schedules and organizes pending jury trials for the Municipal Court
  • Schedules and organizes preliminary hearings for the Municipal Court
  • Schedules cases that are remanded from the Jasper County Solicitor’s Office
  • Reschedules municipal court cases and notifies parties involved
  • Compiles and disseminates monthly Municipal Court reports to S.L.E.D.

 

Qualifications:

    • Proficient in the South Carolina Court Management System
    • Must have 5 years SC Municipal experience
    • Be familiar with SC statutes related to Criminal Law
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices

 

  • Must have attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills
  • Bi-lingual a plus

Fire Marshal

The City of Hardeeville Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Fire Marshal. Application period will be open until filled.

Summary

Performs a wide variety of technical tasks and functions in support of fire safety

inspections of commercial and public buildings; enforce all codes and ordinances related to fire safety; provide fire and safety prevention programs and provides technical support to the Fire Chief; Responds to emergencies and exercises command responsibility on-scene in absence of the Fire Chief. Serves as the number two in command, and reports directly to the Fire Chief

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

Essential Functions:

 

1. Inspect all commercial and public buildings for safety and code violations.

 

2. Perform building and site plan review for all new construction for compliance with fire

codes including automatic fire suppression and detection systems; prepare written fire

code requirements; conduct final occupancy inspections.

 

3. Consult with contractors, engineers, architects, developers, builders, property owners

and other agencies regarding construction projects and activities.

 

4. Interpret enforcement guidelines to department personnel, citizens and professional

agencies; organize and maintain records.

 

5. Present fire and safety education programs for the community, instruct groups on fire

safety and prevention methods and participate in other educational programs for

various groups and general public.

 

6. Prepare various reports on operations and activities; city streets and business listings;

prepare written reports on all inspections, plan reviews and system tests.

 

7. Operate fire equipment during routine and emergency situations; confine and

extinguish fire incorporating proper firefighting and safety procedures at all times;

provide medical services as needed.

 

8. Responds to emergencies and exercises command responsibility on-scene in

absence of the Fire Chief.

 

9. Assist the Fire Chief in maintaining operational readiness of fire response capabilities.

Qualifications

 

  • NFPA Fire Inspector I or South Carolina Fire Marshal
  • NFPA Plans Review
  • SCFA Introduction to Fire Inspection Principles and Practices
  • NIMS-ICS for the Fire Service
  • Maintain a valid Class “E” driver’s license or equivalent
  • Must have knowledge of personal computer equipment with skill in the use of Microsoft Office preferred, utilizing Outlook, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software programs, as well as data entry skills
  • Must be available to work 24 hours/day, seven days/week for emergency response

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • NFPA Fire Officer I
  • NFPA Incident Safety Officer
  • SCFA Fire and Life Safety Educator

 PATROL OFFICER
The City of Hardeeville is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. This is a uniformed position assigned to the Patrol Division. All Officers participate and work in support of the department’s philosophy of Community Oriented Policing, Customer Service Leadership and Problem Solving. Work is performed on a rotating twelve hour shift configuration including weekends. Minimum qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent.
