PART TIME ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The City of Hardeeville has an immediate opening for a part time administrative assistant/receptionist (16-24 hrs. per week).  Duties include but are not limited to front office customer service, provide administrative support to City Manager, City Clerk and other departments as assigned.  This position requires flexibility, strong interpersonal, organizational and computer skills with the ability to work well with all levels of internal staff, outside stakeholders and elected officials.  Some evening hours may be required.

 

The ideal candidate must be able to:

  • Proficiently use all facets of Microsoft Office
  • Effectively control multiple phone line operations
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Type 50 wpm or more
  • Demonstrate ability to learn the organization, procedures and operating details
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish) is a plus.

School Resource Officer (SRO) Vacancy

General Job Description:

 Under general supervision, supports and facilitates the educational process by providing a safe and secure environment through enforcement of state laws, preservation of public order, protection of life and the prevention, detection or investigation of crime.

In addition, conduct routine patrols of assigned facilities to include buildings, parking lots, and district owned leased or rented equipment. Counsels individual students in law-related areas; which affect the student’s ability to function effectively in the educational environment. Assists other law enforcement agencies with incidents involving local criminal activity that may impact student or site safety. Maintain paperwork related to activities that may include police reports, activity logs, and time sheets. Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.

Preferred Qualifications:

High School Diploma / GED Equivalent

South Carolina Driver’s License

South Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Officer class 1 certified.

South Carolina School Resource Officer certified

FIRE ENGINEER (DRIVER/OPERATOR) City of Hardeeville, South Carolina

The City of Hardeeville, SC is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Engineer/Driver Operator. The eligibility list will be in effect for 1 year unless it is exhausted earlier.

Education and Experience:  High school diploma or equivalent is required.  Extensive knowledge of technical firefighting principles and practices. Minimum of 1 year experience driving and pumping fire engines and ladder trucks. Must meet insurance standards and maintain insurability.

The City of Hardeeville, SC is seeking a full-time Accountant I

 General Purpose of the Job

Under limited supervision of the Finance Director the Accountant I will perform a wide variety of professional accounting, and fiscal duties such as establishing and maintaining accounting records, participating in budget control, reviewing and analyzing financial transaction records, and preparing financial statements and reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates project accounting for multi-level grant programs with Finance Director
  • Process quarterly and annual reports as mandated
  • Monitor employee fringe benefit liability and report discrepancies to the Finance Director
  • Coordinate the bid process to assure compliance with State laws
  • Maintain pertinent files for easy annual audit processing in coordination with independent Auditor and/or Accountant
  • Prepare all monthly bank account reconciliation
  • Knowledge of Business License, Accommodation and Hospitality Tax program and reporting requirements
  • Respond to requests for information and provide answers to questions from Finance Director and City Manager
  • Assist the Finance Director as required in the design and implementation of internal control systems
  • Prepare various records/reports as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience
  • Two (2) years’ progressively responsible professional experience managing financial activities to include the preparation of monthly financial reports, financial analysis, audits (specifically single-audit requirements for grants)
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Demonstrable knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards
  • Experience in State tax regulatory requirements and laws preferred
  • Experience with INCODE software a plus
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized and analytical with good writing, computer and auditing skills complemented by great customer service knowledge and skills
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to be bonded
  • Pass a background/credit check and drug screen
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Adobe Professional

Salary range: $40,200 to $54,400

Plans Examiner 

General Purpose of the Job
Under general supervision from the Building Official, performs complex technical duties in enforcing construction codes to ensure public safety and health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Examines plans, blueprints and drawings for new construction, alterations and repairs for code compliance
  • Examines plans in particular for Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Energy and Accessibility related codes and regulations
  • Discusses problems and solutions with appropriate parties
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of Building, Zoning, State and Federal regulations concerning building issues
  • Considerable knowledge of construction plans and inspections and specifications
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural and engineering principles, terminology, and analysis
  • Knowledge of approved methods and materials used in construction and the ability to analyze and interpret complex construction plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of how to conduct plan reviews and inspections to determine code and ordinance compliance
  • Considerable knowledge of local and state laws and regulations concerning the issuance of building permits
  • Multiple certifications a plus – Building, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing. All 4 disciplines are encouraged.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate with extensive experience as a plans examiner or commercial builder with electrical and mechanical background
  • Must have thorough knowledge of ICC Codes.
  • Must possess 1 ICC Plan Review Certification or obtain within the first 6 months of hire and 1 additional ICC Plan Review Certification within the first year of hire
  • Must possess valid driver’s license

Part Time  Inspector 

Under general supervision from the Building Official, performs skilled inspection work to secure compliance with the city’s building, mechanical, energy, and plumbing codes and related regulations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspects buildings in the process of construction, alteration, or repair for compliance with code requirements and for application of safe construction practices; stops construction until deficiencies are corrected
  • Interprets code requirements and answers questions from contractors, builders, architects, engineers, homeowners, and the public; assists and advises the general public in matters related to construction and code requirements
  • Prepares written reports and keeps records regarding inspections

Other Skills and Abilities 

  • Extensive knowledge of local plumbing, mechanical, building and electrical codes and current construction procedures and technology
  • Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
  • Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, government entities and other clientele
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills
  • Demonstrate ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgement

  • Must have 2+ years’ experience as a code inspector under ICC guidelines
  • ICC Certifications in multiple disciplines
  • Must possess valid driver’s license
